What is Burn-in?

Most people agree that a good pair of headphones or earphones should give good audio. What most people don’t know, is that just like a motorcycle, or the human body before sport, headphones also need a proper warm before they can fully realize their potential.

Burn-in is the process by which a brand new pair of headphones are properly exercised in order to get the best out of it. Most audiophile agree that a proper burn in will lead to better audio experience.

Without proper burn-in a pair of headphone takes very long time to perform at its best, but with proper burn-in of 40 to 100 hours a pair of headphone can deliver its best. In normal use, the headphones will eventually burn-in, but it is recommended, to achieve the best results, to run the burn-in by playing a variety of frequencies or warm up sounds. This can be done by continuously playing different kinds of music of different frequencies like White noise, Pink Noise, and frequency sweep.
